Its the amount and speed of the RAM memory that you have. Not whether it is 6 months or two years old.

no oli it isnt the speed of the RAM... it is the amount of the RAM.

bearing in mind RAM is Random Access 'Memory' so like a hard drive its the amount of memory and not speed.

But there is no point having 1Gb of ram if the transfer rate is ridiculously slow. You can have all the memory in the world, but without the ability to pass it on quickly.. Chocolate fireguard springs to mind.
