For example, i was playing Squeezy earlier, the screen just goes black...nothing there...but i can still hear the sound.

It is doing my head in, it either goes blank, or bright white for no apparent reason.

Help is VERY much appreciated.

try hooking it up to an external monitor, if the problem persists on there then i suggest it is your graphics card. If not i believe your backlight may be going.

I've been thinking and it may be a malware issue. Run some scans see what pops up. Also just generally try cleaning up your computer.

Well the screen does have a major crack through it...as a result of a pen being on the board when i put the monitor down:

All is not lost right? I mean i can take the screen out and plug in another one, surely.

Replacement screens to exist but if i double the price of the screen i can get another laptop.

Not a good day to be my laptop, lol.

Agreed, i looked at the cheapest
one.

I am not paying £140.00 for a screen. That is absolute robbery.

Can't be healthy with that crack through it, does anything happen when you put pressure on the screen?

Also when it happens, does it resume to it's normal state or do you have to shut down?

Honestly, i'm not surprised its blacking out.

Most damaged screens ive seen (and there have een plenty!) just black out and stay that way.

I dont want to panic you, but finding a second monitor pronto would be a good idea.

You should be able to claim this off house insurance, but it may not be economic if it affects the premium though.

Personally, i'd reccomend getting on the lookout for a new laptop, thn you could get a pleasant surprise at how much your one will fetch for spares on Ebay.

Firstly, when i put pressure on the screen, it makes a little wave.

I have to switch it off, then when i switch it back on it works fine!

It's actually been like this since before Xmas. It's only started doing it recently.

Spinner i shall be on the lookout for a new laptop, but i do need a good one that will serve me well. I am open to suggestions.

ADDITION: Would linking up to a TV be possible???

Do you have a TV out?

If so, yes, but do it NOW as you will only have access to the setup on the lappy screen.

Bigpockets are doing some great deals on laptops just now :

(note : the website above is purely a personal reccomendation)
