No - because if any of them don't play you are potentially reducing the score your team can achieve across the season - and that is the only thing that matters.

Which by the way I don't think is a good idea - you should be encouraging all teams to give as many of their players as many games as possible.

I did but still got accused of being a 'tactical sub', was like jeez give me a break...it's called utilizing the whole team (even new additions)

lol strange logic which I am not sure I follow.

I agree its only a statistical probability that a best 8 will score the most points possible in any given fixture but in reality that's all there is to go on.

Subs are no longer permitted mate within the 1st 5 days of any fixture (i maybe on about FCL), who cares still a discussion thread. So if a team refrained from originally selecting their better players from the start of the fixture, then come week 2, matches may still be remaining they can sub in their better players thus probably record a better scoreline than they would with the original player. I advocate every fixture being only 1 week old that way those who are active are utilized more. Okay some players work night etc, but I'm sure they can make some time during the week. With all due respect this is an on line game not a recruitment agency, I ain't going ring up my poker table sorry can you wait I'm running late, for example.

I agree mate, who u pick and choose is entirely up to the Captain agreed with by the vice, we all play to win, what I'm trying to say is teams could with it being a two week fixture hang fire with their best players till the 2nd week. I'm not 1 minute saying this is occurring but they is always that open possibility if could in the future.

I simply advocate fixtures all be 1 week if you cannot make it then tough in a way, the team will have to adapt and move on, no saying u can't participate in the future. IF you can't make it hardly the end of the world.

On that note: why is offline 5 days deemed as being 'useless, unreliable, waste of space', within the 1st week? A player may work all hours god sends, is that justification for kicking them out...NO! fixtures are 14 days, if someone is not is contact say within 7 days (1 week) then maybe to time to think about a sub...doesn't mean they have to be subbed... would say 10 days on one player is the maximum u can give, BUT if you feel the team can prosper from a change then do it!

IF it backfires then 'sod's law'!

How can leaving your best out of games until the second week be better for a team as a whole? Do you expect the non better players to just not play in that first week and then they can be subbed out for better players... you would lose players doing that...

Some clans have their own way of doing things, some people don't agree and some people do. Tactical subbing is always going to be around and there is no rules to stop that, if there was then leagues would be borderline boring and to strict. Although Ash you keep stating that Beth was being subbed out initially when the games came out, but you waited 11 days or so to attempt to do it? From what i understand she was asked not to play the game... that is wrong in my eyes if that is true.

Think you have got your games confused here jay. They are talking fbl and ash asked me before the fixtures were released which type I preferred then gave himself 2 eight ball games to save me one, he also made sure that kurt was fine with leaving it till after the 8th too which he was. It may look tactical to zac as it's now the decider but this was decided before fixtures were even released.

I did not ask Beth not to play the match; i sent her a message asking her opinion on a possible suggestion which were due to how close the match were, did she definitely want to play it or would it be possible for the team to play our new signing instead? At no point did i demand nor dictate, Beth weren't best pleased as said match had been already arranged, but then said ok, if you want to sub in newbie then it's fine. I did not make that sub until had confirmation from ooo_u_tap_2, so hopefully ppl can see I did do things properly maybe not to everyone's taste but I tried.

I can confirm this, that decision was made before the fixtures were even released.

Can't say anything about the Beth one though.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with tactical subs. Have done it myself, have seen almost every clan do it. If you are playing a team who you believe you should win there is no problem in leaving your "better players" out of the starting team.

However who your better players are is all down to opinion, I could think hightops is my best player where someone else might think i_am_blessed is and someone else might think brooksy is.

My point is it's all speculation and opinion, and if someone does a tactical sub and wins the match well done to them they deserve it, they scored more points which is what is needed to do your best in the league.

The idea of a best 8 seems quite silly to me, whenever there is a thread about who is the best uk player or straight player, there is never a conclusive answer. The answer ends up being there's not really a best player, as everyone can beat anyone.

I wouldn't say there's a best 8 in my clan, I trust that every member is capable of the results we want else they wouldn't be signed. If you look at clan statistics, a clans best 8 in one season may be completely different to the next seasons.

As long as the substitute isn't disruptive to the game then I see no reason why it shouldn't be upheld. The 5 day rule gives the chance for organisation.

If you want to win stuff then you put you're best players in every game to gain as many points as possible, the best teams should have faith in everyone of there players to beat anyone tho but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The best players werent born good at online pool they got good by playing the best players and so subbing in your best players to try and win games just increases any gaps in level in your clan.
It also takes away confidence and more importantly enjoyment of playing from the player being subbed out, for the sake of what? No cash prizes on offer in any of the leagues!

Surely tactical subs is what a captain is there for?

I think it is a massive positive rather than a negative if a clan chooses to try and do a tactical sub against your clan.

Like i have said previously clans are 16 players and as long as it is 8 of them who play the games even if the opposing clan done 8 tactical subs day one to match players it would not bother me in the slightest, in fact i would encourage me to enjoy beating them even more.

Scrap the 5 day rule and embrace tactical subs as they are part of clans even if some wont admit it

cgibson is online now and I can play, so is it okay to swap the sub back?

Yes it is :)

It is up to Stu as you guys have used your swap so you can't reverse it, Uprising not used theres though so they could change it

Is this right? The rules used to be that if you done a swap you could swap it back at any time you did not need to use up another swap?

Sorry but if it is right, why are we adding rules to prevent games getting played.

FBL WEBSITE said:
5.8 Swaps

A maximum of 1 swap is permitted per fixture per clan. A swap can be made between formats, for example, a player can swap from 8UK to 9US. However, if the swap is reversed by the opposing team this may go against them if the game goes to default due to this action.

This rule has never been changed by myself (when i ran the league for a season) nor has it been changed by Jema.

To be honest though it doesn't state anything about the same team reversing it, but i posted what Jema had told me. It is the way she has done it since running the league.

That is not how the rule used to be, you could always reverse a swap at any time.

Its ok though another change to prevent games getting played, we should be used to it by now.

That is how the rule has been since i ran the league for a season and Jema has never changed it, what is so hard to understand about that...

Your sarcasm is amazing though Keith as per usual. You got an answer and yet you still don't listen to it. Even though i actually agreed with what you said, i have also explained that to Jema as the rule does not state the same team can not reverse a swap. In my view it either needs to be put in as they cant or leave it and allow a reversal. So UP would still have their swap.
