Well Keith, if you continue past the highlighted section of your post you will see why.

Yes but that is for captains and teams to do, it does not need a league runner to provide pointless friendlies for it to happen.

All the teams are in Super League anyway so if you were thinking a player may be unreliable you would play them in the first games of that and see.
Pre-season goes on to long, people get bored

well for one eagles arnt in super league

this is also a different format. your comment about players getting bored, you dont represent everyone so how could you no that

uprising made a statement more games the better

these are pre-season qualifiers they are here for a reason and always have been for as long as i remember

rather than speak for the majority which you dont, put it to the clan captains for there input, but i think new players must be tested in the format so they understand what to do

I'm giving an opinion same as everyone else, same as chris asked for calm it down whatever people decide is fine by me. You need help tbh

Friendlies have always been a part of the league and holds its fair share of the schedule so I don't intend on removing it. P/S's provide more games for clans which people seem to prefer and also like I said, new players can get used to league format under league conditions and get a feel for how the league operates.

Where is this more games for clans idea coming from?

There can be no extra games. They are not additional games in the overall scheme of things. They just fill two week periods throughout the year that would otherwise be used for League games.

In fact arguably its less games because they generally take up a three week slot.

i think one pre-season qualifier is needed

there is alot of new players in clans this season, so to it makes sense to give them a practice run out, so can captains and league runners can also check reliability

just my opinion
This was personally my thought also. Think it is best for 1 pre-season friendly, as that should be enough of a test to go on in the season.

Irrelevant of it adding onto the overall results, people like playing games and the pre seasons add additional games whether you count them in the league or not. This debate has come up last couple of seasons and mostly people like playing the pre seasons so I keep them.

3 weeks? They go on for 2 weeks, well FBL might only go on for a week because clans are only playing 1 match.

You have always had two weeks for the friendlies and then a week to set the season up on the basis that until the friendlies are done you don't know what the schedule will be if teams don't make it - three weeks.

Not necessarily, the schedule can be set up to have the games commence as soon as the pre seasons have finished, me and Jay always had several schedules ready for however many clans made it through pre season.

Jay has refused a clan entry to the league before based on the pre seasons so they do show something, if a clan couldn't make it 1 week then how would they survive the league?

As far as I can remember there was always a week between friendlies finishing and league starting. Apologies if that's wrong. Even if it is there are still no additional/extra games in the overall scheme of things.

Pre-season doesn't count, did it ever?

It is purely a test to see what teams are ready for the whole season. Having to get played 14/16 games (or better) is a good test.

The point of the pre-season friendlies is to test the reliability of clans for the season. Yes, there are added benefits of them, such as more games for each clan and a chance for captains to test their players but these are not 'league issues'.

The problem we have is that because of the situation that arose with the FCL time has been lost. If pre-season friendlies are run, the league will lag behind the other two leagues (if these maintain their current schedules) - Unless we rush out pre-season friendlies ASAP, which is not only a big ask but largely negates their point.

You don't need the friendlies for the season to commence, but if the overwhelming majority definitely want pre-season friendlies then we, of course, will run them. However, before you make any decisions consider the above.

Well, if no preseason are ran, the risk of defaults will be much higher i and a few other captains and many players feel.

Were not league runners, so not up to us. I think majority would want them, but if it will cause the season to run behind the other leagues (which seems to be your highest priority as of now) then scrap friendlies.

I think if captains had faith in the players they sign they would be saying we don't need these friendlies, lets just get the league started, at the end of the day why sign someone if your not sure about their reliability ?

I understand the FCL is going to run a little behind the schedule but I still stand by my previous posts. Scrapping the pre-season for those who want it is taking away new players and their new Captains opportunity to 'test the water' so to speak.

I'm sure my team will not mind being given a pre-season friendly alongside with a real fixture, will maintain and maybe increase the online activity from some of them and especially those who have not been selected for a fixture and give the a match also.. Obviously if the pre-season match (s) could give us a 3 week period to play them as we will prioritise the REAL fixture but I'll ensure we complete them too?

This will not disrupt the other Leagues, nor delay this FCL any further and assist with all the other teams rather than hold them up.

I just want fairness for all and I will represent the newer teams all the way.

Us, as runners would like to continue straight to the season, but it's entirely up too the clans, whether they would like pre-season friendlies or not.

Like I said before, if they are wanted, we will run them, but it will put a strain on the schedule (compared to the Super League and the FBL). Limited friendlies would help this issue, i.e. One week of friendlies, one fixture per team - But again, we are perfectly happy to continue straight to the season with all current clans eligible to participate.

The general consensus seems to be that friendlies are wanted, but we will see what everyone says now that I have explained the situation

After thinking a little further and a chat with a mate, I have totally re-evaluated my stance and think it's time to 'jump in the deep end', if my players aren't ready now then they 'never will be'.

Best way for myself and other newbies to learn is to actually apply it, IF we make a few mistakes then all part of the learning curve. It's my duty and my responsibility to nurture my players should they not know what to do and I will try my best as will my team.

I say bring it on!!!

Players have had to play in the friendlies their clans have arranged over pre-season to show their reliability to their captain.
These are purely supposed to be for the league to see reliability from teams but they don't work for that anyway and the league just ends up changing the amount of qualifiers needed to pass so that everyone qualifies anyway.
Players dont have any interest in meaningless games (sorry to speak for everyone before the_priest gives me another of his sermons) but the scores dont matter and there is no rank involved so the motivation to a player is nothing.
