got a new computer (windows 8.1) but it won't validate the cert when I click to play. Says "Java(tm) Plug-In SSV Helper" & "Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper" are incompatible.

Any ideas?

Are you using Internet Explorer?
IF so - try another browser - this error is common with IE

didn't work with either chrome or firefox.

just keeps sayiing:

still not happening. I tried the offline installer aswell; it verify's as working (version 25) but still the same prob.

I think you need to try and instal the 32 bit and 64 bit versions. Had the same problem on my lappy last year with Windows 8 I think.
