At the end of the day, Fantasy Football works. They don't enforce a 1 player from each team rule and we might as well try to keep it as alike to the real thing because that's a proven format. All we're doing is changing the sport

Sam this is your idea obviously the interest is high so you keep it how you want it to be - After all it won't be the players who will be carrying out the admin duties and scoring etc.

The only thing you need to eliminate if possible is the same players on every one's team -

Failing that how about this:

An idea:
Lucky Dip might be a good way that way no one has any say who they select. However, each player could be allowed/entitled to 2 changes per week but that's it?

Dependant on the budget I say as if you have a limited budget you could get class players but then you'll have to use those weaker players to fill the team

Say of we had 75 million each and I got

Dvz £16mi
Corsair £18mil
Iam_me £9mil
Raker £12mil
Total £55mil

With 4 players got you would have only 20 mil spare , but maybe put the lowest player as a 4 mil value to make people have to buy thise small players to fill the team so people can't get 2 good players and then going for the lowest as they would have enough

What do you think of this Sam?

or even stars could do it (5 stars max), 100 mil budget. maybe 4 or 5 mil per star so someone like Seb would be ***** and worth something like 20-25 mil, that forces other teams to sign someone like cke who might be half or a star meaning cke would be worth in range of 2-5 mil.

One thing to consider is that theres quite a big gulf between the top 5% of players and the rest of the site. Ill compile a list of players and rank them by their current standing in golden cue (Itll be a short term thing but will help understand the difference between players)

Another option is for me to compile the list of every clan player, send it off to 5 or 6 people and including myself assign values to each player based on honest opinion of their overall ability. I would imagine this would be less popular and people would be accused of bias so i'd probably try to do this discreetly and keep the people doing the values anonymous.

A scale of 5 stars doesn't really show enough variance in value between the top players and lower.

In the fantasy footy, the values range from 3.0m (I think) and Suarez was the highest before he left, at 14.5m, so 115 gradients of value to seperate the value of players

Star rating can be reasonable but nobody wants a budget of *'s do they

Football Manager uses * rating including half stars and that includes ever league in the world not just the BPL so itd be usable

I agree that it could be a * rating, but are you thinking of each star or half star has a certain value attached to it? Because if you are a 5*, then that would mean you are one of the best, but you are at the top of the value, whereas in a game like FF, there is no max value, but there is a minimum value.

For example, imagine if you played dvz, both 5 star players, you thumped him 15-0, a few runouts, 7 ballings, the works (a good day at the office) his value can go down, but your rating is already maxed at 5*.

Or... Am I missing something?

I would use something like this: 10 x (frames won / frames played) x (matches played / half total matches)

using the players given above -

dvz - £10.9 million (41 points)
corsair - £9.6 million (36 points)
iam_me - £10.6 million (40 points)
raker - £10.6 million (40 points)

So a pretty terrible example of players to use at this point in time

Chucking some other players in who aren't currently scoring around the same:

punkpoet - £2.9 million (11 points)
kingdadcool - £4 million (15 points)
thegreatone7 - £3.2 million (12 points)
sillybilly - £5.9 (22 points)

This way, teams in theory should all have scored virtually the same in the previous season. So no advantage can be gained before the competition begins.

The above method avoids the bias of giving a big price tag to the best player simply because of the quality of the player when that is not necessarily a good indicator of them being a big scorer because they may play less games.

In the judgement call situation, it is far better to choose a slightly lower rated player who will play more games than the best players who may be used exclusively for the big games. In iam_me's example, no one in their right mind would choose dvz or corsair because they would've scored 77 having cost £34 million whereas the other two would've cost £21 million and scored 80.

In fantasy football, the most expensive players are the ones who have scored highly in the previous seasons and not necessarily the best players.

Are the highest scorers not the best players?

Suarez last season...

Golden cue doesnt show the rankings fair either.

Some players will only play the big games against good players and drop out of games v lesser clans.

Does that make sense sensai!!!

This would be where Zante's method comes into it, so if you only plap 2 games out of 4, but win 15-0 each time, it wont be as good as someone who has played all 4 times, and won 10-5 each time...

Is that right Zante?

They can be, but whether they are the best is irrelevant. The best scorers should have the highest price whether they are the best or not, the best players who don't score particularly highly won't have as high a price.

Of course, the best players should be pretty high scorers as standard but it is no guarantee
