Clan Grand Slam - The Players Championship

Round 1 Draw has been made. Ended up as 70 byes and 116 players left to compete in 58 matches. For Seb I can confirm that all players registered with the 12 clans with FCL or FBL as of Midnight (with the exception of angel from Divine Forces) were entered.

Full Round 1 Draw is on the website...

http://funkypoolsuperleague.weebly.com/round-1.html

Deadline is Midnight (UK) 10/3/12. Failure to notify a result by the deadline may lead to an automatic DQ for both players.

All games will consist of 9 racks in total (3 each of US8, UK8 and US9). In addition to one point per rack there will be bonus points for any events achieved (Golden Breaks/Run Outs). Should the scores be level following the 9 racks there will be a sudden death deciding rack. The game type for this 10th and deciding rack will be chosen by the player who won the preceding (9th) rack.

This a voluntary tournament so there is no requirement to play or attempt to play if you wish not to. Please do not badger or harrass opponents if they do not reply or do not wish to play, simply retain evidence of contact and effort.

Please post results on thread - winning player is sufficient.

true but what if you send one and never send another one? but for FCL defaults one player lost 3 points due to not making much effort with opponent despite them being inactive.

Just to show the attempt in case they come on line. Same as for any clan game. The important thing here is though even though a player may be off the whole period if the opponent wants to stay in the tournament and progress to next round they must request the default decision and provide evidence why they deserve to go through - although in most cases it will only need the bare minimum. If neither player requests the decision both are DQ'd.

To show that you're making an effort. Otherwise, how does chris know that you're making an effort to get it played? Same goes for normal league games by the way. If you don't send messages, you're likely not going to get a 6-0/15-0.
Just one message saying: "Hi, when do you want to play our game?"

Can't be that difficult lol.

a) in case they come online so you can get the game played and
b) to show you want to take part rather than be dq'd.

It's no different to a normal clan game. If your opponent was not online you would do something.

Imagine your opponent has been offline for 8 days, there's 7 days to play your match, you don't message your opponent, he comes online with 2 days remaining and you don't see him. Neither player has evidence of attempting to get games played - both are disqualified.

Seems easier to me to simply message him at the outset.

I gotta say I don't agree with the bonus points for golden breaks. Haven't they been lucky enough?
Now, the points for runouts: great idea

Interesting point there Been. At the end of the day the racks are made to be in a slightly different position to the previous rack in order to prevent repeated gb's. Therefore, although some players may use a particular break which yields a high rate of gb's, when they do actually get one it is pure chance.

Where as a runouts take skill.

The bonuses are there for two reasons. Firstly because a little luck doesn't do any harm in trying to even up some contests just a little bit.

But mainly to try and extend the games further into all three game types. Otherwise a player could be 5-0 down and out already with still one whole game type left to play. Not good. Particularly if it was their favourite game type. At least this way, if you break first in the third game type, there are still a maximum of 5 points still available to be won. So unless you are 6-0 down or worse the game will always reach the third game type.

Hasn't been mentioned before, and I know its common sense, but you dont have to play all 9 racks if the game has already been won.
