Land of Confusion - Genesis or Disturbed

Correct and bonus point for disturbed ;). Though it is a Genesis version I first heard the Disturbed cover and prefer it :)

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you...

Chorus from a poignant song by a famous singer - cover of a song by an Alt Rock band.

We passed upon the stair, we spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there, he said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone, a long long time ago

Oh no, not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With The ........

Following the trend another song which was covered and arguably made more popluar but we want the original artist ;)

The Man Who Sold The World

Not sure if Bowie was the original? Nirvana did a cover on MTV Unplugged. Have also heard a cover by Simple Minds

Know it sounds funny
But, I just can't stand the pain
Girl, I'm leaving you tomorrow
Seems to me girl
You know I've done all I can
You see I begged, stole, and I borrowed! (yeah)

Highest UK charting single for this US rock band - another cover song.

Faith No More - Easy Like Sunday Morning. Hope I have them right; either way, it was a cover of a Communards song.

Faith No More and Easy

Not sure about The Communards but it was certainly a hit for The Commodores (Lionel Richie)

Well done.

Whoops, wrong one! Schoolboy error...

Right, let's see.....

I've exposed your lies, baby
The underneath is no big surprise
Now it's time for changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love

My ____ __ ____
Crucifies my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
My ____ __ ____
In unbroken virgin realities
Is tired of living

2001 single from their second studio album. Number 11 in the charts, their highest chart position at the time.

Had to Google it

Muse - Plug In Baby

The cold wind is blowin' and the streets are getting dark
I'm writing you a letter and I don't know where to start
The bells will be ringing Saint John the Divine
I get a little lonely every year around this time

The music plays all night in Little Italy
The lights will be going up on old Rockefella's tree
People window shopping on Fifth Avenue
All I want for Christmas is you

(Tell me) I've got to know
Where do lonely hearts go

Yep you can have it as the artist is from way before your time

There ain't nothing more depressing than a pine tree
Gussied up candy canes and balls
Those carolers have kept me up for hours
It's Merry Christmas seeping through my walls
Now I'm no wiccan commie or nothing
But there's one damn holiday that I can't stand
It ain't Halloween or Thanksgiving or even April Fools
But it'll surely make a fool out of every man
HA

If I ain't drunk then it ain't Christmas
You know where to stick those jingle bells
If I ain't hammered it ain't hanukkah
And all you *naughtyword* go to hell
If I ain't cockeyed then it Kwanzaa
Joy to the world and jack and coke
If I ain't drunk then it ain't Christmas
Cause I never anything but broke
