right, here goes AGAIN!!!!

posted this yonks ago but got nowhere, but was speaking to _niall_ about it during a straight tourney game and he agreed.
I mentioned it because I played a shot which didn't have enough power and didn't hit a cushion.

My thoughts on this are that niall should have had the choice of putting me back in or continuing with his shot.

My thinking here is for those who play deliberate fouls

Gimme some input here punkyfoolers!!

If someone deliberately fouls, you can just do it right back. The other person will have to hit a legitimate shot first, or he gets screwed on the 3-foul rule.

that is correct, but, what if you foul first?

granted there is usually some form of safety if there is no pot on, and the option to smash, but would it not make more sense to have this rule in place?

Would only work once you're in a heads-up situation. If you still have multiple players and the guy ahead of you fouls, why should the guy behind you be punished when you pass it on?

Don't get ya :s

In Killer if a player fouls then ya can put that player in again if you've no shot on. Obviously only if he/she has lives left.

Other idea would be to have Cue Ball in hand after a foul......am I getting ridonculous now??? lol

But no, idea is ideal for straight about option of putting them back in.

For straight it's fine, but for killer I don't like it. Players can hit legitimate shots that end up fouling unfortunately and leaving no shot on. No reason to punish that in killer after theyve already lost a life.

Well it is about potting a ball and therefore ya shouldn't miss! I know what yer sayin, but for somebody's bad shot/foul and you are left with nothing, then I think it is only fair to be able to give them another go.

Now why are they trying to sub not even a week in ?? We have 3 weeks to play subs shouldnt take place just becasue someone is online and wants to play... You should play who u are matched up against... We have 3 weeks to complete...

Not talking about the subs we just did,... Talking in General

Agreed with this although the title should be changed to something foul based as i thought "oh someone is moaning about Straight now"

I don't play straight much so it's not really a big deal to me, but I personally don't have a problem with deliberate fouls. I don't see it any different to playing safe in other game types.

As for killer, the whole idea of the game is to kill! And again, there's no difference doing a deliberate foul to playing safeties. Some players don't have the best cue control (me) therefore arn't very good at safeties.... why should they lose a game they could quite easily win by "tapping" as they call it..... just so they don't upset anyone?

I do see your point on Killer but on Snooker you have the "pass back" option in all types except Killer so its only right it should be the same for pool as well.

Dunno why we are talking though only nick can make this change and he is busy

Eh, there are things I'd much rather see fixed first (UK table, ball scaling, tighter pockets etc.) but I don't think this is too much of an issue.

I don't see the need for it on Straight, fix all the bloody rules first...

I agree gaz and i do the same as seb. Delib foul back till they are forced to play the shot or lose 15 points.

but then he could put you back in as well, so the situation wouldnt arise. By this logic, if youve fouled first, then he should have the right to put you back in, which he is essentially doing by fouling deliberately.

true i guess theres no essential to have this as pirate points out but you do lose a point by fouling also so could be a factor later unless your a Seb, Dvz, Pirate and other great Straight players
