Fun & Games

Blankety-blank, Poem Thread, Grinding One's Gears,
Many different games have taken place throughout the years.
But there's a notable absence - one cold, empty seat,
That seems to have been reserved for a 'Mr Pitbull Pete'!

Rumour is he tried to enter, but admin held him back,
Worried that the pile of accusations may just stack.
'Pit said this', they'll all say, 'He's creating havoc in there',
'He stamped on my size 3 feet and also pulled my hair!'

'His poem was too dirty, it had such rude themes',
Some say if he got in here he'd be corrupting people's dreams!
So poor old Pete sits there, curled up outside the door,
Whilst inside 'Fun & Games' the laughter rolls and roars.

Some nights though he would sneak in, take a look around,
Tip-toeing round the forums, without making a sound.
'Why won't they just accept me?' Pete would ask himself,
'I've as much right to be in here as anybody else!'.

Sullenly he closed the door and went back to general chat,
But as he returned he realised, he'd left behind his hat!
'Oh Christ' he thought unto himself, 'They'll know that I've been there!'
'Crucified is what I'll be, I left it on that chair!'

And so it was the hat was found, and left upon that seat,
With a little reservation, for a Mr Pitbull Pete.
'Write a poem!' they implore; 'Choose the title, pick the name!
All we want, is to have you here, to post on Fun & Games!'

Thanks mate lol

Now then.

Liverpool

I used to venture here sometimes on the train for work,
Early mornings and also late nights.
Whilst travelling to the wrong side of the Pennine hills,
I used to see some god-awful sights...

I'd step off the train and walk through the gates,
Stroll past Ken with his duster in hand.
Suddenly a barrage of La's with their mates
It was like I was in some new land!

Down past the bus station, up toward Exchange Flags,
Girls with curlers still in their hair.
Track-suited teens with their little man bags,
It was certainly hard not to stare!

I'd cross the road past the statue, into Philpott's dead quick,
Bacon butty, brown sauce and a tea.
Outside some tramp is giving another tramp stick,
And I skip past before they focus on me.

A day's work all done, off I go for the train,
The bars noisy and the crowds having fun.
Suddenly I spot the two tramps again,
Although this time they're not so glum.

A metropolitan city, there's a lot I could say
About it's people, the culture and more.
Now and then for work I'm still over that way,
Walking the same streets as I did before.

(Sorry, bit rusty!)

Isolation

There was once a time in the recent past
Where the freedom of society just wasn't classed.
They called it a lock down, isolation at home,
No conversations in person, just over the phone.

Work days were lonesome, no office to attend,
No gym in the morning or socialising with friends.
Just a day in the house, with a walk in the day,
Or a jaunt in the garden where your children could play.

Key workers commuted to prop up the front line,
Whilst many others took pay cuts and tried to kill time.
Supermarkets were rife, stock flew off of the shelf,
Bulk-buyers took a vast disregard for their health.

Mental health plummeted for some after a while,
Finding it hard to even put on a smile.
Small businesses closed, the Prime Minister took ill,
Health specialists raced to create a vaccine-pill.

Thousands were dying, world leaders passed on,
Initial predictions of subsidence were wrong.
Years went by, and society changed,
Humans evolved whilst poor souls went deranged.

Suddenly it was normal to work from your home,
Health advice restricted time you should spend on your phone.
Hands were washed frequently, masks worn when outdoors,
Handles had germ-free solutions when fitted on doors.

Public transport had limits to the people on board,
The healthiness of the public suddenly soared.
Communities were closer, families too,
The notion of caring for others turned true.

It's been quite tough,
I'm sure you're the same,
Escape from it all,
Come here for a game,
The boredom is constant,
Tho we're getting some rays,
Hope you're all safe and well,
Stuck in these Groundhog Days.

Stop this virus that came from Wuhan

And wurzell gummage dint get his hair cut

Only one thing can keep his seat

I still log on,
Enjoy my pool,
Game for a laugh,
Another funkyfool.

Abuse is common,
Loads made up,
Concerns me so much,
That I don't give a duck.
