As the title states, I have begun using Ubuntu 11.04 and I am a newbie with Linux, so I would really like some advice. I've been doing a lot of research about different programs, codes, etc... to use but I would like to have someone that is an advanced user with Ubuntu to give me the in's and out's of it.

I am running it as a dual-boot off of a WD 750gb external HDD, with 300gb partitioned for Ubuntu.

I also get a message at start-up that says
" /boot is not present or not available. Press S to skip"
If anyone knows why I am getting this message, please let me know. I hit S and it boots up normally with NO issues at all

As stated previously, I am a new user with Ubuntu, so please excuse my idiocy

And please, no comments stating that I should stick to Windows, or Ubuntu is crap, or anything along those lines. I just would like help.

Thanks :)
