I keep on getting warning about my internet activity being traced. I believe that I have located the file in my c drive, but it won't allow me to modify or delete it.
Please help?!?

I have now run a scan and I have found nothing. I know that there is something on my computer because my homepage keeps on changing.

I've thought about rebooting from disk, but the last time I backed up stuff was december 2006, so that is a last resort.

AVG hasn't found many either, what it has found it won't quarantine.
I've deleted the original malware, but the computer has more downloaded. Any ideas how to delete them would be welcome.

AVG and Norton are Anti-Virus, not spyware, although occasionally the pair do go hand in hand.

AVG isn't that much better than Norton.
Norton can be a bit of a memory hog and yes it does cost money, but you've already got it so thats not the issue.

My copy of AVG on the other computer took 2 hours to do its last full scan.
Norton, on a similar specced computer took 20 minutes.

Run Spybot or Ad-Aware and see what happens.

Its not such a great idea to have two different Anti-Virus programs on the same comp either, I'd use Norton until your subscription runs out.

You can also try using another anti virus software to perform scan on your system and see if that detects the same problem. Although some systems will only let you have 1 anti virus software installed at any one time there are a few free to use online antivirus scanners you can use. A good one i some times use is

http://www.pandasecurity.com/uk/homeusers/solutions/activescan/default.htm?track=80383

Just click scan system now and away you go

Good luck

Heard doesn't quite cut the mustard, an un-updated version of any software won't pick it all up. Theres new code coming out all the time to attack computers, hence all the updates.

Got a link at all? I just googled it and found nothing.

This is the 1st time Norton hasn't found anything, it scans faster than AVG as well. It has blocked countless hacks, worms and viruses in the past, if anything, it's better than AVG.
