Today is the start of WC qualifying, for most European teams. Only one European qualifying game has been played so far, and it ended up with Kazakhstan defeating Andorra 3-0.

Belgium open up their campaign with a home match against Estonia. Scotland face an interesting away match to Macedonia, who have proved to be a team capable of upsetting many.

England fans will be happy to know they start off with an away match to Andorra. Wales face a home match to Azerbaijan. Northern Ireland face Slovakia away, and the Republic of Ireland are away to Georgia.

Other continents have started their qualifying campaigns, but this is the start of a long, difficult journey for those in Europe. (Unless you play for Kazakhstan or Andorra, they've started already.)

Hmmm another boring england performance two late goals 75th min onwards, so england win 2-0 with a header from crouch and a tap in from bentley.

doesn't look too good for Scotland, Walter Smith and Alex McLeish should never have left them still, only the first game, so there is still a good chance for them methinks.

About 35 minutes gone for Belgium vs Estonia, still 0-0. Belgium have some great youths coming through, so hopefully this qualifying campaign will be a lot better than of recent times.

england sub standard against amatuerish opposition. Rooney's scoring record for england is a joke- no denying hes a great player but why cant he show that for england with goals vs teams like andorra

yay!!

The socceroos (australia) just beat Holland 2-1 in a friendly. Now we take on Kyrgyzstan or someone in the first round of the asian qualifiers.

Interesting start for most teams.

Scotland suffered a 1-0 defeat to Macedonia, Wales struggled in their 1-0 win over Azerbaijan. Northern Ireland fell to a 2-1 defeat in Slovakia, Republic of Ireland won 2-1 away to Georgia, and England picked up a 2-0 win in Andorra.

I can happily say Belgium won 3-2 against Estonia. Two goals from Wesley Sonck and a goal from future star Steven Defour sealed the win.

Very good win for them. The Dutch were very impressive in Euro 2008, arguably the best team in the Group Stages. Well done to Australia

C'mon the Croats...

Belgium away to Turkey tomorrow. Important match, might prove whether we have a chance of qualifying or not. Tough group with two of Euro 2008s final four, Spain and the Turks. Hopefully we can take at least a draw from this game.

Anyone see the Romania 0-3 Lithuania scoreline on Saturday? Absolutely classic

Good result for Belgium, taking a 1-1 draw away to Turkey. Wesley Sonck scores his third goal of the qualifying campaign 31 minutes in. 75 minutes in, the Turks receive a penalty, and Emre scores from the spot. Still, if we have any hope of making the World Cup, getting results against Spain and Turkey and beating everyone else is really important.

Good result for Scotland, winning against Iceland.

Result of the day - has got to be Switzerland 1-2 Luxembourg. For a tiny country like that who barely score in a game, never mind win, is absolutely amazing. The Swiss are going to be wanting to hide from the rest of Europe after that one.

Also looked like a great game in Finland 3-3 Germany. The Finns took the lead each time, but Miroslav Klose scored to make it level each time.

England for the World Cup!???

I was listening to the match on 5live and they said it wasn't a sending off. When I saw the highlights this morning on GMTV it looked like he tried to take Cole's head off with his elbow! Very silly move and one which cost them..............

Lets all jump around and shout how good England are, world beaters!!!!!
