Only started happening a few days ago, sometimes takes me 4 or 5 times to get on the computer without it restarting.

Doesn't happen everytime I log on though..

Anyone have/had a similar problem?

Cause? Solutions?

Stu

Hard to explain really. It just randomly restarts itself, i can be on the computer for 5 minutes working, and then it does it. I have noticed a new process though, wimprvise.exe or something, never seen that before this occured.

Usually when it restarts itself it will keep on doing it randomly until i switch it off at the plug or something

Download this taskmanager:

http://www.download.com/Security-Task-Manager/3000-2094_4-10246545.html?part=dl-SecurityT&subj=dl&tag=button

Once installed run it, it should show threatening processes.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING MORE THAN LOOK!!!

Post back with any high threats (generally 60+)

As a note, some programs arent infact malware, but can hold similar characteristics and so are shown as threatening.

Okay, I think you may need 'specialist' help.

Please register on the following website:
http://www.techguy.org/

Post your problem in the "Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs" section of the forum.

A malware expert will reply with advice, trust me they are good. If you need any help with the advice they give then post here and I will have a look.

I am actually a malware removal trainee so I can only help to a certain extent.

This also happened to me. I eventually found out that it was x on my keyboard that kept terminating the process.

Have tried registering on their forums, but the '6 digit code' i have to put in is only displaying 5 in the image :S

I know of people who it happens to sometimes aswell but they also don't know the problem

Does this mean it's serious by the way? Or you just can't help? Lol

You can stop an auto restart/shutdown by going to Start>run and typing "shutdown -a"

Also, if it is in any directory other than c:\windows\system32, then wimprvise.exe is almost certainly the sasser worm.

However, the first thing to do is delete aktlbrr.exe (you will probably have to end the process first)

You would be amazed how many complicated guides people can write something so simple.

Nope.

Find the file and delete using the delete button.

Never use any piece of software unless you really have to

Start > search > aktlbrr.exe

However the screenshot already shows its a hidden file in windows\system32

Edit - if you dont know, go to folder options, and enable "show hidden files"

I've chose to view hidden files, and searched all files and folders multiple times yet the file still isn't showing
