Trials can easily move forward regardless of on-going changes to the league format, can't they?

Most of the proposed changes aren't really testable on small scale anyway and need a full season to really evaluate IMO.

Almost the same scoring system as now, only difference is the points are decided by the difference, ie a 10-5 win gets 5 points, a 8-6 win gets two points. Race to 4 at 9ball and race to 3 at the 8ball games.

Nothing much been said about how those differentials would translate onto the league table, but assuming the differentials for all sub-games are added up to form a final differential for that fixture at least.

For the table, my best guess and suggestion would be to simply add the total differential from the fixture onto the total difference the clan has had over the entire season, avoiding having to deal with negatives.

I have read all options and posts and welcome discussion but please dont adopt the "any changes are too complicated so we will do nothing approach"

I accept the point re awarding 3 pts for a win argument that states if a player is ahead and cant be caught he will simply give up which doesnt seem a good idea, but the existing system has a similiar flaw as if a couple of players get a hammering whether unlucky or not it disincentivises the team for all other games and makes them effectively pointless.

In my opinion you should be awarded a point for each format won and 2 or 3 points for an overall win or 1 each for a draw with frame scores being used as a kind of goal/frames difference in event of equal points.

This makes season interesting and competative for all teams all the way through.

It also negates argument that players will chuck it if they cannot recover match as they can still get points for format win.

This really isnt very complicated to put in place and I cannot see any negatives.

As for straight being included I personally dont mind it but think it would place more pressure in getting time to complete games.

As for default under my system award 4 points but do not use frame count in figures as game was not played.

Dave, my test game vs. mdj (piggies) might prove hard to get done I'm afraid - I'm working daytime all week and he is working nights. Not the end of the world since it's just a test game anyway I guess.

Yeah Kelvin hasn't been on for a while, I'm awaiting news from my secretary to see if he's going to return back online anytime soon. As these are only trial games I'm not too bothered if they get played or not. I see a fairly big flaw in the system anyway so I don't think the system will take off.
