Sorry to hear of your news the_only_ego - take your time. The deadline is nominally Wednesday; might extend it under the circumstances if no-one minds.

Both the remaining games are between unbeaten players, so no-one will be eliminated in those games... but they might be eliminated in the next games, making them must-win games nonetheless.

I plan on doing something after this, a long-term thing, and it will be straight too, and it will involve just one game per week. And I plan on the positions in this tournament being used as rankings for the new thing (i.e. the players who have finished higher will start the competition higher up).

And, believe it or not, there's still room for new entrants in this competition. However, you can expect to be playing two games a week instead of one until you catch up.

Right, the draw will have these aims:

- 9 players will be in the draw;
- 8 players will be drawn into 4 games, with one player getting a bye;
- There will be at least one (and maybe two) games between unbeaten players;
- A player with three games played will get a bye;
- A fixture that has already been drawn will not been drawn a second time.

This means that as the names are drawn out, and a pairing looks likely, I may have to backtrack and revise. Bear with me. Those guys at UEFA have a computer to help them after all; I only have Notepad!

Nine names will go into the one hat, as well as a BYE. I'll try to keep an eye on what fixtures are possible, and it won't be easy.

I'm going to be doing this in the next few minutes.

I'm going to be absent myself for a few days, meaning the competition won't be moving during this time, so you can all consider this a bit of a go-slow period. There's no pressure (yet) to play your fixtures, but obviously the sooner you get them out of the way the better. We'll see what way we are when the provisional deadline comes, although no-one will be penalised by not playing before this time.
