Regarding Individual Competitions I think there is a choice...

1) Keep The Players Championship - an individual competition for all and for all game types or

2) Bring in Individual Tournaments for each game type (maybe also a fourth one for all three game types together too like the TPC) but on the basis of entries only and a longer match format increasing up to the Final.

With Option 2) players would not be limited to one tournament only but likewise defaults would be harshly enforced like they have been in The Players Championship.

We cant do both Option 1) and 2) as they would be just too time consuming particularly with the return of Clan Cups as well.

That would be 'pre-season' right?

There is no official pre-season - clans are obviously welcome to arrange as many friendlies as they wish to though.

Has the Provisional Season 22 Starting date been determined yet, are we still looking at the 1st Feb (Saturday)?

We are very close to finalising everything. At the moment we have a provisional start date for the 9th February.

FCL Season 22 - provisional launch date 9th February 2014

After much discussion, it has been decided that there will be no changes to the game or scoring format for the upcoming season. There will be one change to the competition format and one addition though.

Since its introduction, the creation of a one division competition has been a great success. There are two downsides to playing each other clan once during a season though. 1) an overall season can be decided by just one fixture and 2) it puts more importance on the margins of victories over lesser clans than on results between more evenly matched clans. Changing it so that each clan plays each other twice solves 1) but makes 2) even worse whilst at the same time doubling the season length.

This season, each clan will play each other clan once. At that point the league will then split into two and there will be two further fixture periods where clans will play one further game against each of the other clans in their half of the league (top half or bottom half). This will give all clans more competitive fixtures against teams of similar ability. All scores both pre and post the split will be added together to give the final points totals for the season.

No clan from the lower tier will be able to overtake any clan from the upper tier in the final league table. However to ensure teams in the lower tier have something to compete for the clan finishing top of the second tier will be Division 2 Champions and also be guaranteed a first round bye in The Clan Grand Slam Cup for the following season.

Which leads on to The Clan Grand Slam Cup.

Rather than have several individual League Cup competitions this season, it has been decided to have one multi-format Cup competition.

All matches will consist of 8 v 8. In each match there will be two FCL format games, two SL format games and four FBL format games (one each of 8, 9, UK and Straight). Each game will be two points for the win and one for a draw. The first clan to score 9 points will win the overall Cup tie.

As stated initially the FCL season will commence on Sunday 9th February. As this is only 10 days away we will be relying on the prompt actions of all clan captains in doing the necessary actions.

In the first instance we will require entries from all clans that wish to take part in FCL 22 along with team lists as soon as possible. Team lists can be changed at any point subsequently up until the release of Fixture Set 1 on 9th February.
